IMS Ibiza moves to Hard Rock Hotel

ims-ibiza-2014

The industry conference will take place at the new Playa D’en Bossa venue in 2014.

IMS 2014 will run from May 21st through 23rd at Ibiza’s Hard Rock Hotel.

Held annually at the Ibiza Gran Hotel since 2009, the seventh edition of the conference will see it move down the coast to Playa D’en Bossa. The Hard Rock Hotel, which will officially open on May 18th, is being built on the remains of the Hotel Don Toni, next to Ushuaia Tower. All talks, panels and workshops will take place within the five-star complex, with satellite parties relocating from the port to various venues in the Playa D’en Bossa area.

“This is a major opportunity for us to create a new home as we expand with the genre and with the ambitions of our delegates,” says IMS partner, Ben Turner. “We are impressed with the work of the Hard Rock group and feel we are in good hands. The irony of the history and name of the hotel is not lost on us—this is a true reflection of how our music is seeping into mainstream culture worldwide and continuing to break down barriers of entry.”

The IMS Grand Finale parties will be unaffected by the move, taking place at Dalt Vilain Ibiza Town on Thursday, May 22nd, and Friday the 23rd. The lineup for IMS Ibiza 2014 is yet to be announced.

There’s still time to go crazy in Ibiza

Raving well into October, the White Isle has extended its 2013 club season to keep the hedonistic good times going longer than ever.

So banish those autumn blues and get ready to wave your glowstick at the legendary Ibiza closing parties.

The year’s hottest destination is undoubtedly the Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel and neighbouring Ushuaia Tower on Playa D’en Bossa.

Here some of the most stylish and exclusive celebrations take place.

“This summer the parties have been bigger and better than ever and nobody wants to stop,” explains DJ Jean Claude Ades, whose suitablynamed Be Crazy event has quickly become one of the island’s hottest tickets.

“The Brits love to party and they are a big part of Ibiza culture. We expect the last few weeks to be extra special.”

Be Crazy attracts an international crowd and has enjoyed celebrity visits from the likes of Hollywood screen god Leonardo DiCaprio, 38, and Barcelona’s Argegentinian football maestro Lionel Messi, 26.

“Be Crazy is like a modern Studio 54 disco party, full of beautiful people,” explains the Italian-born DJ, headphones in one hand, glass of champers in the other.

“It’s slightly decadent, with a very sexy vibe and deep tech music.

“The future of the DJ scene in Ibiza is not just about the music, it’s all about the show and big productions.

“So at Ushuaia we have artists jumping from rooftops on bungee ropes and huge elephants carried in from the beach. There’s always a surprise for the people.”

Jean Claude’s Be Crazy moves to the main Ushuaia poolside stage for its epic closing party on Wednesday and promises to be the season’s major blow-out.

“It really will be crazy,” promises JC. “With some sets we have played on until 10 in the morning.

“I like to have a climax. I take you on a musical journey with music from the 80s to now in a modern way – three decades in one set.”

Thanks to Jean Claude Ades, the spirit of classic, stylish Ibiza partying is definitely in safe hands. Be Crazy has become a ritual for all clubbers coming here.

But there are plenty of other closing parties for one final summer fling. Here we round up the best on offer.
